Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 July 2026

NowStack is built privacy-first. Your tasks live on your device, and optional sync runs through your own Apple iCloud, which we cannot read. We don't run ad networks, sell your data, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. We do collect a limited amount of usage and diagnostic data to keep NowStack working and to decide what to build next — described below, and reflected in our App Store privacy label.

Data we collect

These are the categories declared in our App Store privacy label, with the exact purposes Apple lists for each. None of this data is used for advertising, and none of it is used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. It does not identify you personally unless you choose to contact us.

What stays on your device

Your task stack, tags, time-boxes and settings are stored locally on your Mac. If you turn on sync, they mirror through your private Apple iCloud account — governed by Apple's privacy policy and inaccessible to us. Tasks go to Apple Reminders or Calendar only when you trigger an export. If you never vote or contact us, NowStack sends us nothing.

Feature votes

When you vote on a planned feature in Settings, we receive: the feature name, a random per-install identifier, the time, and the platform (“macos”). The identifier is generated on your device and is not your name, email, Apple ID, or hardware ID. Before storage it is hashed with a secret salt, so the stored value can only deduplicate repeat votes — it cannot be traced back to you. We do not store your IP address with the vote.

Support messages

If you use the support form, we process the email address, optional name, and message you enter, in order to reply. We email you a confirmation link first; your message is only delivered to us after you click it. Pending (unconfirmed) messages are deleted automatically after 30 minutes.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details; we only receive Apple's confirmation that the purchase is valid.
